MMRC Exoskeleton Paraplegic Walking Program
Control of therapeutic exoskeletons require sophisticated training and constant adjustment of treatment parameters. Utmost attention must be paid to device fitment, control, and safety during training. Longitudinal data is collected for each patient and treatment outcomes are monitored over time.
The MMRC Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation team is a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and prosthetics & orthotics experts, who are fully trained to conduct exoskeleton training for acute and chronic SCI patients. The team is certified to use devices including the EksoGT, The Freebionics Freewalk, and the SuitX Phoenix.

In 2020 The MMRC Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Team was given the Hospital Authority's OUTSTANDING TEAM AWARD for their teamwork, innovation and dedication in SCI rehab services.
Established in 1984, the Maclehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre (MMRC) is one of only three centers in entire Hong Kong recognized by the Hospital Authority as being an official Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Rehabilitation Center. MMRC is the referral center for ALL spinal cord injury patients on Hong Kong island, making it one of the most experienced and specialized centers in Hong Kong. MMRC also has the unique position of being linked with Queen Mary Hospital for the best clinical staff support, and spinal rehabilitation programs and services are integrated with the University of Hong Kong and supervised by the Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology so that best quality of care is ensured.
